Marc Hemeon, Brett Brian and Craig Ames raced in the inaugural Xterra Tahoe City this past weekend in perfect conditions in beautiful Lake Tahoe. While the high altitude may have scared some folks away these boys charged up to Tahoe in 8 hours with no reported effects from the lack of oxygen.

The swim was freezeing with all the lads complaining of aching feet and not being able to catch their breath for the first few minutes. But after the first lap the water temperature became bearable and there were claims that a couple of the lads took a drink of the water mid swim to quench their thirst.

Out of the swim Craig was in 8th place overall with Marc and Brett existing the water together just a few minutes behind. The bike course ascended from 6300ft to 7200ft for a 2 lap course through mountain meadows and twisting single track for a total of 22miles – a long way on a mountain bike.

Upon descending back to the waters edge the run was a straight 3 miles uphill on rocky single track that never seemed to end. At mile 3 the course then descends for another 3 miles down similar terrain to a beach front finish just feet from the waters edge.

Craig finished the race in 2:59 placing 9th overall and 3rd in his division. While Brett Brian in his very first Xterra, finished in 3.36, and Marc Hemeon continued his assault on the racing season finishing his first full length Xterra in 4:15.
